The District offers medical plan options designed to meet the diverse healthcare needs of employees and their families.
Eligibility
Contracted employees who are regularly assigned to work at least 6 hours per day, or 30 hours per week, are eligible to participate in the District’s benefit programs.
New employees have 30 days from their first day of work to enroll in health benefits. Coverage become effective on the first day of the month following your start date, provided enrollment forms are submitted within the required timeframe.
Open Enrollment/Qualifying Life Events
Open enrollment is the annual opportunity for eligible employees to review their benefit plan options and make changes to their benefit elections for the upcoming plan year. Information regarding plans, rates, and enrollment deadlines will be communicated each year prior to the Open Enrollment period.
Outside of Open Enrollment, benefit changes are only permitted if an employee experiences a qualifying life event. Common life events include marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, loss or gain of other health coverage, or other eligible changes in family or employment status.
Employees who experience a qualifying life event must notify Human Resources and submit any required documentation within the applicable enrollment period. Failure to submit changes within the required timeframe may result in the employee having to wait until the next Open Enrollment period to make benefit changes.
