The State of California has implemented the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), which replaces the prior state requirements for funding Public Schools. With the new funding system’s increased flexibility comes a requirement that districts engage stakeholders, which includes parents, in developing a Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) to submit to the State. Participation in this system is mandatory for “Local Educational Agencies” (LEAs) including charter schools and public schools that receive state funds.

This is a three-year plan focused on state and local priorities that describes goals, actions, services and expenditures to support student achievement. San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools played a role in reviewing the plans, which must be developed and locally approved by July 1, 2017. Further information on the Local Control Funding Formula is available at the State of California Department of Education’s website.
