Harnessing social media to connect with members and school community, the Lucerne Valley FFA (Future Farmers of America) 2019-20 officers recently introduced themselves on Instagram.

The FFA chapter also shares news on Facebook and has 710 “friends,” but the photo-driven Instagram is where the action is for the program. Numerous other FFA chapters from all over the western U.S. also share their news on Instagram.

Other Lucerne Valley school programs on Instagram: The Lucerne Valley High School Art Club @lvhs.artclub, Lucerne Valley High School ASB @lvhs.asb_, LVHS Girls Basketball @lady_mustangs_basketball and more. The Lucerne Valley Unified School District shares news and events on Facebook @LucerneValleyUSD, Twitter @LucerneU and Instagram @lucernevalleyusd.

The 2019-20 Lucerne Valley FFA Chapter officers: Katelyn Miller, president; Jesus Alcazar, vice-president; Korrina Medina, secretary; Omar Orozco, treasurer; Lilianna Velasco, reporter; Tatum Fox, sentinel. The following are their introductions:

Katelyn Miller — President

Hey y’all! My name is Katelyn Miller and I am serving as your 2019-20 Chapter President! As I go into my senior year, I will be headed into my 4th year as an FFA member. I raise market hogs for the San Bernardino County Fair and I can proudly say that the Agriculture Industry is my passion. When I’m not sporting my FFA jacket, you can always find me in the barn, roller blading or rockin’ my Crocs! As we go into this upcoming year, I can’t wait to learn more about all of you!

Jesus Alcazar — Vice President

Hi, my name is Jesus Alcazar and I’m your 2019-20 Chapter Vice President. This year will mark three magnificent years in the FFA and two years being part of your chapter officer team. When I am not wearing the FFA corduroy jacket, you will catch me yelling at the top of my lungs, playing football, or riding the beautiful Lucerne Valley trails horseback. As this year goes on, I hope to have unforgettable conversations and properly fulfill my duty as an officer. You know what the great Winnie the Pooh said, “If you live to be one hundred, I hope to be one hundred minus one day so I’ll never have to live without you.” :)

Korrina Medina — Secretary

Hey guys! I’m Korrina Medina, your 2019-20 Chapter Secretary. This is my 4th year in FFA and I plan on introducing new ideas to your chapter this year! I’ve raised market hogs and have moved onto raising market calves for the fair. Outside of the FFA, I love to cook and spend time with my family.

Omar Orozco — Treasurer

I am Omar Orozco, and I’m your 2019-20 Chapter Treasurer. This is my third year in the FFA, and I’ve been an officer for two years. Besides the FFA, I really enjoy playing sports including football, soccer, and basketball. I am also a very outgoing person who loves to meet new people. If you guys see me around make sure to say hello!

Liliana Velasco — Reporter

My name is Liliana Velasco, and I am your 2019-20 Chapter Reporter. I’m currently a sophomore and this is my second year in the FFA. For my SAE project last year, I raised a market swine and plan to do the same this year. Outside of my duties as a chapter and section officer, I like to spend my time reading, writing, and listening to music. As this year unfolds, I look forward to getting to know all the members of the chapter!

Tatum Fox — Sentinel

I’m Tatum Fox, and I’m your 2019-20 Chapter Sentinel. One activity I’ve participated in these past two years is raising market swine, and this upcoming year I will continue to do Market Swine. When I’m not wearing my corduroy jacket, you will usually see me on and off the court playing volleyball and basketball. I can not wait for this upcoming year and getting the opportunity to meet each and everyone of you this year!
