Guillermo Betancourt, Jamie Hannah Named Employees of the Month

Middle High School teacher/coach Guillermo Betancourt and COVID custodian Jamie Hannah were announced as Employees of the Month at Thursday’s monthly meeting of the Lucerne Valley Unified School District’s Board of Trustees. The awards were presented by Superintendent Peter Livingston.
 
The Certified Employee of the Month, Mr. Betancourt is a highly respected member of the Lucerne Valley Middle High School faculty who continuously maintains high working standards while developing positive relationships with fellow staff members, parents, students, and athletes, Mr. Livingston said.
 
“Guillermo is an extremely adaptable teacher who is always receptive to new ideas and trends in education. He has a natural way of making the subject matter interesting for his students. Guillermo possesses the ability to conceive new and creative ideas which keeps his student highly motivated and interested in learning.”
 
Furthermore, Mr. Betancourt’s classroom activities “are engaging, relevant and tie-in directly to the major points of the unit being taught. Because of this adaptable, flexible approach to teaching, Guillermo is a highly effective math teacher.” Mr. Betancourt also serves as the head cross country and track and field coach.
 

Classified Employee

The supervisor of Jamie Hannah, who was selected as the Classified Employee of the Month, has been a wonderful addition to the elementary site and is currently serves as our COVID custodian during the day, Mr. Livingston said.
 
“She has worked diligently to keep the campus sanitary and safe for all students. Teachers and outside stakeholders often commend the site administration on how great the facilities look and how clean the school is for staff and students. If you walk around campus, you will most likely pass by Jamie and be greeted with a friendly ‘Hello’ and ‘Have a great day!’ She has a great outlook on life and always approaches tasks with a pleasant attitude and a smile. Her friendly demeanor and gentle approach make her well-liked by staff and students.”
