Elementary School teacher Ashley Thompson and Middle High School health tech/coach Madison Diamond were named certificated and classified Employees of the Month, respectively, at the October 12, 2023 meeting of the Lucerne Valley USD Board of Trustees.

Superintendent Peter Livingston presented Ashley and Madison with their awards.

Ashley Thompson (Certificated)

Ashley is a product of Lucerne Valley School District and decided to come back to the district after being hired as a teacher in Apple Valley. “We are so thankful that she did,” Mr. Livingston said, quoting the LVES administrators. “Ashley came back on last year as our intervention teacher working with kinder through 3rd grade remediation and created schedules to allow her to work with as many students as possible at their appropriate level.”

Furthermore, “Miss Thompson was also our go-to for additional support. She took on STAR, Accelerated Reader and CAASP Coordinator. She trained the teachers on each platform and kept track of student progress in AR and STAR. She also organized our AR parties throughout the school year, which were a great success. Ashley was always willing to step in where needed. If we were short staffed, she would sub classes, take over morning duties, and help admin with essential tasks. Because Ashley knows the community so well, she can be seen every day at the back gate helping with student release and chatting with parents.”

This year, due to growth, the school needed another kindergarten teacher. Miss Thompson stepped up and asked for the position, pivoting quickly, collaborating with the kinder team, and prepping her classroom all at the last minute. Her classroom is always a pleasure to visit. Students are consistently engaged and learning in a creative and safe environment.

“We are grateful that Ashley decided to return to LVES. Her willingness to be a positive and collaborative member of our kinder team and school as a whole is a testament to her love for the Lucerne Valley Community. Her commitment to collaboration as well as providing the best social and educational experiences for our students are what led us to choose her as our October employee of the month. Congratulations Ashley!”

Madison Diamond (Classified)

The Middle High School administrators selected Madison for her exceptional work and dedication.

“Since joining our team, Madison has consistently gone above and beyond her assigned duties, displaying an unwavering commitment to her responsibilities. Notably, Madison has seamlessly integrated herself into various roles within our organization. In addition to her outstanding performance as a Health Tech, she has willingly taken on the responsibilities of lead medical staff at sporting events, supervising our locker room, overseeing the completion of documenting parent’s emergency information into Aeries. She also coaches one of our Middle School volleyball teams. Her ability to multitask and maintain a high level of professionalism in these roles are truly commendable.”

Madison has proven to be an asset to her colleagues, readily lending a helping hand whenever needed, the administrators said. Whether it is assisting with clerical tasks or providing support during challenging situations, she consistently demonstrates a strong teamwork ethic and a willingness to assist her co-workers.

“Madison's exceptional work ethic, versatility, and willingness to go the extra mile have not gone unnoticed. Her commitment to excellence and her ability to seamlessly adapt to different roles make her an invaluable member of our team. We are truly grateful for her contributions and look forward to witnessing her continued success.”
