Lucerne Valley Elementary Principal Joanna Mora introduced Students of the Month Melody Herrera and Harlow Johnson to a standing-room-only meeting of the Lucerne Valley’s Board of Trustees on Thursday, February 12th.

Melody Herrera, Kindergarten

Ms. Mora shared the many reasons why Melody was selected as the Student of the Month:

“She stays on task,” Ms. Mora said. “Even when no one is watching, Melody works hard and completes her work with a smile. She has kind words, listens attentively, and raises her hand to share more ideas. Melody is an outstanding listener, a helpful classmate, and is excelling academically. She practices her sight words for fun and is excited about her writing.”

Harlow Johnson, 6th grader

Harlow has numerous qualities that led to LVES selecting her as the Student of the Month, Ms. Mora shared:

“Harlow has truly stepped into her shine this year,” Ms. Mora said. “She has grown into a confident, altruistic house leader, stepping beyond her comfort zone and using her voice with courage and grace. She is a strong role model within her house and classroom, leading with heart, pride, and integrity.”

But there’s more.

“Academically, Harlow consistently strives for excellence, especially in writing, where her creativity and advanced skills truly shine. She seeks challenges, supports others, and leads with a purpose, making her a wonderful candidate for the Student of the month — and she is also one of our house queens.”
