Lucerne Valley USD Superintendent Peter Livingston was selected by the Lucerne Valley Chamber of Commerce to serve as the 2026 grand marshal for annual Lucerne Valley Fourth of July Parade.
“There were nominations on Facebook, and then our board voted last night,” said Chamber vice-president Michelle Boren during her presentation at the June 11, 2026 meeting of the Lucerne Valley USD’s Board of Trustees meeting. “By unanimous vote you got to be our grand marshal.”
Afterward, Mr. Livingston said, “This is truly an honor.”
Mr. Livingston was hired as Superintendent of the school district 10 years ago by the Board of Trustees in June of 2016. Under his leadership, district enrollment has grown from under 700 students to more than 1,150.
In January of 2020, the school district was recognized as one of the top small school districts in the state by the Small School Districts Association. He has helped guide the district in program growth and development, and the Board of Trustees voted earlier this month to completely pay off a $6.8 million Certificate of Participation for capital improvements 13 years early, saving the district about $1 million that can go toward educating its students.
“Peter is one of the best superintendents we have ever had here and his organization, as well as his ability to search and find the right folks for positions in our district, is a real factor in our success,” longtime board member Tom Courtney said several years ago.
The annual Lucerne Valley Parade will take place on the morning of Saturday, July 4th and run down Highway 18 eastward to the center of town. The town’s fireworks show will be held on June 27 at Pioneer Park from 5-9 p.m.

The Lucerne Valley Unified transportation department also participated in the parade.
Mr. Livingston welcomed teachers prior to that start of a new school year.
