LVUSD Continues Rewarding Staff for ADA Increases

All Lucerne Valley USD employees will receive more money in their paychecks if student attendance increases, resulting in higher overall Average Daily Attendance numbers. Those incentives are built into the recently approved contracts of the district’s three key employee categories: certificated (teachers), classified employees and Career Technical Education (CTE) teachers.

“These agreements reflect a shared belief across our district: when we create schools that students are excited to attend, everyone benefits,” said Superintendent Peter Livingston. “Our staff is rising to that challenge, and we’re proud to invest back into the people who make Lucerne Valley a place where students want to be every day.”

Over the past two months, the district and employee bargaining units each quickly came to salary agreements for the 2026-27 school year, which included the ADA incentives.

In May, Lucerne Valley teachers were increased to 2.9% pay increase after originally settling at 2.5%. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Lucerne Valley Teachers’ Association President Lucinda Lazenby and Superintendent Peter Livingston on May 15th.

In June, Lucerne Valley’s classified employees and CTE teachers agreed to a guaranteed 2.9% pay increase with the possibility of up to 2% more on condition of a specified student population increases, according to the recent agreement between the district and Local Chapter 743 of the California School Employees Association approved by the Board of Trustees on June 11, 2026.

The increase, which went into effect on July 1, includes an additional 1% to be added retroactive to July 1, 2026 if the district’s Average Daily Attendance (ADA) increases by 91.86% to 93.36%. Another 1% will be added to the classified Salary Schedule and CTE teachers if ADA increases by 3%, from 91.86% to 94.86%. The teachers’ agreement includes the same possible salary increases based on increased ADA numbers.

The district first implemented its innovative ADA incentive program in 2024.

Several factors increase ADA at the school district including adding engaging school programs, offering incentives for students to maintain good attendance, and creating a welcoming school environment.

Other changes to LVUSD contracts:
Classified employees who diaper students will receive an additional 5% above their regular rate of pay, and the District’s health insurance contributions for both classified and CTE teachers will go up by $1,000 per employee.

The new agreement commenced on July 1, 2026 and continues through June 30, 2029; however, the District and its employee bargaining units negotiate salary and benefits each year.
