Chelsea LaGrange has joined the Lucerne Valley Unified School District’s Board of Trustees. Superintendent Peter Livingston administered the Oath of Office to LaGrange and Board Members Jim Harvey, Ruben Medina and Jessica Risler during Thursday’s regular board meeting.
LaGrange ran unopposed in the election along with Harvey, Medina, and Risler.
LaGrange stated, “As a mother, active community member, author, and entrepreneur I am looking forward to moving into a position where our local community, the public school, and the entire school system are moving in bounds to support our children. With new integrations of the LCAP, improved funding, and our own local reignited passion that has been fostered by amazing new staff and supported by the dedicated, passionate concrete staff that have been the base of school community. Being a born and raised resident of Lucerne Valley, this is my school, many of these ‘bases of our school community’ were my teachers the same people that instilled the tools that have fostered the confidence to take this position and work with this outstanding board to not only continue to strengthen the school community but to continue to make the amazing advancements we have seen in the district.”
Board members Tom Courtney and Ruben Medina are up for reelection in 2020. Board member Carmen Fox, who stepped down from the board to spend more time with her family, was given an award for her dedicated service.
Harvey Named Board President, Courtney Vice-President
Jim Harvey was selected president of the Lucerne Valley Unified School District’s Board of Trustees during Thursday’s regular board meeting. Harvey will continue to serve in this role and was approved with a unanimous vote.
The board also named Tom Courtney as vice-president, and Ruben Medina as clerk. Both were approved with a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees.
The board also selected representatives to special committees.
