Volunteer Information

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with our schools! Volunteers are an important part of our school community, and we appreciate your willingness to support our students and staff.

Volunteer Requirements

Before volunteering, individuals must complete the district’s volunteer approval process. Requirements may vary depending on the type of volunteer activity and the level of contact with students.

Volunteers may be required to complete the following:

  • Volunteer Application
  • Tuberculosis (TB) clearance
  • Mandated Reporter Training
  • Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprint/background clearance, when applicable

All required clearances must be completed before participating in activities that require approval.

Classroom Volunteers

Parents, guardians, and community members may be permitted to assist in classrooms under the direct supervision of a District employee.

Classroom volunteers who have not completed fingerprint clearance:

  • Must remain under the direct supervision of District staff.
  • May not be left alone with students.
  • May not supervise or be responsible for an individual student or group of students.
  • Must follow all school and District rules while on campus.

Field Trips & Student Supervision

Volunteers who will be responsible for supervising students, leading a group, or otherwise being entrusted with students outside the direct supervision of a District employee is required to complete fingerprint/background clearance before participating.

 

A volunteer who has not completed the required clearance may be permitted to attend certain activities as a parent or classroom volunteer but may not be assigned responsibility for supervising students.

Fingerprinting Costs

Please be advised that individuals interested in becoming a volunteer with the Lucerne Valley Unified School District (LVUSD) may be required to complete certain steps as part of the volunteer approval process that may involve out-of-pocket costs or fees.

 

Depending on the volunteer assignment and District requirements, these costs may include fees associated with required clearances, screenings, fingerprinting, background checks, health requirements, or other applicable processing requirements.

 

Any costs associated with completing the volunteer approval process will be the responsibility of the prospective volunteer. Payment of any required fees does not guarantee approval or placement as a volunteer. All applicants must satisfy the applicable requirements established by the Lucerne Valley Unified School District before they are authorized to volunteer.

 

By proceeding with the volunteer process, applicants acknowledge that they understand there may be costs associated with becoming an approved volunteer.
